If you are already excited about seeing the cherry blossoms this spring, there’s no time to wait. Heading to Korea from late March to early April is likely the best time to travel as a number of cherry blossom festivals take place around that time each year, and blooms are usually at their peak. For those heading to Seoul, the best time is in the beginning of April. The Yeouido Spring Flower Festival takes place on Yeouiseo-ro Road each year when the azaleas, forsythia, royal azaleas and other spring flowers are in full bloom. If visitors to Japan are looking forward to cherry blossoms, official forecasts will begin in mid to late January. The timing is much the same as in South Korea: Travelers should schedule a visit in late March to early April to catch the best of the season. There are also opportunities to see sakura closer to home. Washington, D.C., is famous for its cherry blossom bloom. Like other destinations, travelers improve their chances if they visit at the tail end of March or the first few days of April, says CherryBlossomWatch.com. The site notes that warmer winter temperatures bring an earlier bloom. Colder overall temps mean the bloom will be later.
